We’re very excited to announce our first tour of 2018!
Me and Sam are planning on delivering a whole load of walks, talks and tales this year to bang the drum on how marvellous cemeteries, and the people buried within them, are.
I am very pleased to announce our first tour of the year celebrates Women’s history month and delves into the ladies of Hampstead cemetery!
One hundred years have passed since the law was changed to allow women to have the right to vote. Not all women, admittedly, but it was a start. After hunger strikes, protests and vandalism, times began to change and the rights of ‘the fairer sex’ were ensured by the likes of women such as Emmeline Pankhurst.
March is Women’s month and history is male-dominated enough as it is, so we’re throwing the spotlight on the iconic women who lay beneath the beautiful Hampstead Cemetery! Join us for a guided tour through the gravestones and meet the likes of legendary actresses, illustrators, ballet dancers and artists whose stories have been forgotten. Rub shoulders with legendary stage actresses, listen to some evocative poetry and marvel at the sauciest performer to tread the boards of any stage!
More events are going to be uploaded over the next week or two including celebrations for cemetery Club’s 5th birthday (you’re all invited), TWO brand spanking new tours around some of our finest people museums and maybe even an event that harks back to the good old days….
Come along, we’d love to meet you!
